Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Polk County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared beyond the site team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Routine server logs may collect technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- IP address
- Referring site, when supplied
- Pages viewed and approximate visit duration
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that can help measure how readers move through the site. Analytics providers combine traffic signals to show broad use patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block or clear cookies, though doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route an entered search to the selected outside provider
- Maintain site speed and availability
- Diagnose bugs and other technical faults
- Measure which resources readers use
- Display advertising that may reflect inferred interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Polk County Criminal History does not own, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It explains how to reach the Polk County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes and apply their own privacy terms to submitted information. They decide how long to retain a query and when it may be shared. Review the provider's policy before using its tool because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to official sheriff, court, or state pages as well as outside services. Once a reader follows one, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check those terms before disclosing personal information.
Advertising companies may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is governed by their policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be available to these limited recipients:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that receive a submitted query
- Advertising networks that serve site ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service can promise perfect security, so a loss, breach, or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. A verified notice that a minor supplied such data will be reviewed so it can be deleted where appropriate.
Your Data Rights
Missouri consumer-protection law, including the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, §407.020 RSMo, may apply to some practices. Depending on governing law and the request, you may ask to:
- Opt out of certain processing
- Receive a copy of personal information held about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete eligible personal information
